After sightseeing in Paro, we left for Thimpu and got there sometime in the evening. The first hotel that we arrived at turned out to be a pretty bad place and considering that we were going to spend 3 nights in Thimpu, we all decided to find a better place to stay.
After checking out (and rejecting) 3-4 places, we decided to stay at the best place in the city – Hotel Jumolhari. Though the hotel is priced higher than most others in the city, it offers nice clean and cozy rooms, great service and good food.
The capital city of the land of the Thunder Dragon (the Kingdom in the clouds) is a bustling metropolis and the largest city in the country. Thimpu is about 65-70 Kms from Paro and is about an hour and half drive away.
The first thing that strikes you about Thimpu is the happening night life in the city, we were there on the weekend, and we realized that night life here is like any other big city across the world. Quite a contrast from everything that we had seen so far in Bhutan. Pubs are bustling with life, alcohol flows freely, music wafts through the atmosphere… everything you need to have a great night out in the city.
After enjoying Thimpu’s nightlife… we set out the next morning to check out the major tourist attractions of the city. So here goes… a photowalk through Thimpu…
