24th July – Drive from Delhi to Shimla

So, the plan was to update the blog real time during the cycling trip. Since that didn’t happen, I’m going to start the account pretty much from Delhi.

Delhi to Shimla – by car with 3 cycles tied to the roof, and one paranoid guy in the car wondering what’s going to happen to his beloved bike. The drive itself was quite uneventful, but the gem came when we reached Shimla.

So we booked a fancy hotel on the way to Shimla and when we reached there, we checked out the rooms, the view etc and then asked for a discount. The person at the reception refused to give us a discount, so we just left at a whim. Not that there was anything wrong with the rooms or anything, we just left at a whim. So the real deal is, we book a fancy hotel, go there, take a piss, and leave to find another place.

The good thing being, the new place we found had unsecure wi-fi internet access (which didn’t belong to these guys, but a neighboring hotel). Simple rooms, and a great view in the morning.

obviously, the first thing we did after getting to the htoel and unloading the bikes was to take a ride around the place and get really excited about the coming few days. WOW… cycling the Indian Himalayas.
