The drive from Phuntosholing to Paro is enough to convince anyone that Bhutan is The Kingdom in the Clouds.
We completed the 6 hour drive from Pling to Paro in about 8 hours thanks to the beautifully forested slopes of the Himalayan Kingdom, the numerous stops to enjoy the scenic beauty and the delicious lunch break at a place made of wood, nestled amongst the trees.
During the entire drive, as far as the eye could see, it was all green (at times the eye could see only about 5 meters thanks to the clouds which frequently kept descending upon us).
The mild rain and clouds kept us company during the drive making the journey even more pleasurable. This drive is a nature lovers dream come true. Anywhere we stopped, we could only see forests and birds chirping about in the trees. The icing on the cake were the numerous small waterfalls all along with the purest mountain water which tasted like nectar. Just the kind of therapy needed to refresh one’s body and soul…

I love the photo of the winding road! I’ve been to Bhutan but since I flew in and out, I didn’t travel that particular path…
Thanks Andrea…
Really enjoyed reading thorough your blog as well 🙂
