Graduate into the world of Mountain Climbing

This expedition is designed for those who wish to graduate from trekking into the world of mountain climbing. The Ladhaki and Shitidhar peaks are located in the Bara Banghal Range are technically not too difficult and hence suitable for people who have prior experience of trekking. From the peaks, you have excellent views of the Kullu and Lahaul Valley and also the Raigharh Glacier.

The climb involves going up snow sections and gain a maximum altitude of 5,342 meters at the Ladhaki summit.

Participants on this expedition will be given instructions and training on the use of snow climbing equipment such as crampons, ice axe, climbing ropes etc.

Arrive at Manali, you’ll be checked in to hotel to freshen up and relax. Get introduced to the GoMissing team. You can spend rest of the day at leisure in Manali.

Overnight in hotel

Early morning, after breakfast, you’ll be driven to Solang (13 km). From here, you’ll trek through lush green and thick forests to Dundhi (4 hrs).

The next day, you will trek to the base camp at Bakharthach (4 hrs). The trail passes by the Beas Kund Glacier.

Next morning, after breakfast, you’ll trek further to the Advanced Base camp (6 hrs)

This day is reserved for acclimatization and getting the hang of your equipment. You’ll practice moving and climbing in ice/ snow around the camp.

The following day, you will trek to an altitude of 4,724 meters to the Camp 1 (5-6 hrs). This will be your first high altitude camping experience on a snow ledge. After reaching the camp, you’ll go on a short walk for proper acclimatization.

You’ll start very early in the morning with the climb towards the summit. After reaching the summit and soaking in the spectacularly beautiful views, you’ll start the descent to the campsite 2.

Today you’ll attempt the summit to the higher Ladakhi peak. You’ll climb using crampons, ice axes and ropes, a true mountaineering experience.

You’ll descend back to the Camp 1 after the climb.

The following day you’ll head to the Base Camp and we will have a small celebration dinner with delicious hot food.

After the strenuous climbing and trekking, today will be a rest day to roam around, short hikes and leisure walks.

Next morning, you will trek back to Dundhi village. From the village, you’ll be driven back to Manali.

This day has been kept as a buffer, in case of any delays that might occur.

Trip Price

INR 49,500/- per person (for fixed departures – 10 people).

Price will increase for smaller groups.


Be prepared for

  • 5-7 hours of trekking (some of it on ice/snow) each day (challenging)
  • Days are expected to be cold with bright sunshine, however, nights will be chilly. So be adequately prepared.
  • Unexpected weather conditions and patterns. In case of any unexpected weather, we might need to turn back
  • In case of landslides or unexpected circumstances, there may be a change in the itinerary and a consequent rise in costs (this will be on actual)
  • You will be required to sign a liability waiver
  • Extreme grade expedition trek. You’ll need to have high fitness levels to walk/ climb at the altitudes and for the durations mentioned.
