Rupin Supin Trek at a glance
Itinerary of the Rupin Supin Trek
The Rupin Supin trip begins with an early morning drive from Dehradun to the Tons valley. The extremely beautiful route takes you winding up & down the mountains.
Passing through Mori and Netwar, you will follow the Rupin River upwards to Himri where you will camp by the river side. Rupin has clear blue waters as it gushes down the hills.
Overnight camp at Himri
Starting from Himri after an early breakfast, you will drive to Bheetri which is the last motorable village on the route.
The Rupin Supin trek starts from Bheetri. You will cross the village and reach across Sarutaal, a beautiful seasonal pond at the edge of the cliff which overlooks the Rupin valley.
From Sarutaal, you will trek though pine forests for another 6 km to reach Kurla Thaach. The green meadows here are the grazing lands for the cattle and horses.
Overnight at Kurla Thaach
The next morning you’ll start early with a climb up the mountain face. The trail here offers amazing views of the peaks surrounding the area.
Soon you will cross a ridge and reach Rikatik Odi which, at 3600 meters, is the connecting point between the Rupin and Supin valley. Devoid of any trees, you’ll only find shrubs and grass here which flower up in the spring season.
Overnight camp at Rikatik Odi
Starting the next day’s trail from Rikatik Odi, you will leave the Rupin valley behind and head towards the Supin valley. The trail takes you through beautiful coniferous forests with an easy gradient to Phitadi village, a typical Garhwali village with wooden houses and stone roofs.
Overnight at a homestay in Phitadi Village
The last day of trekking, you will head towards Jakhol village through a well-defined trail. The village has a large temple dedicated to a local deity. After spending some time in the village, you will leave for Sankri which is an hour’s drive.
Sankri has many guesthouses to relax and you can spend the rest of the day at leisure in a village setting.
